Even though Lee Westwood will definitely overtake Tiger Woods on the 31st of October, Martin Kaymer can still beat him to the world No 1 spot.

Martin Kaymer has decided to enter the Andalucia Valderrama Masters in Spain on the weekend of 31 October and could jump past both Westwood and Woods to the top of the world rankings.

The 25-year-old German moved up to fourth in the world with his third successive European Tour victory in the Dunhill Links Championship at St Andrews.

All of this is assuming that Kaymer wins and neither Westwood or Woods play before the HSBC Champions tournament in Shanghai.

Westwood could have guaranteed that he was the world No 1 this weekend with a top-seven finish in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, but a dissapointing final-round 73 saw him drop down to 11th.
