With a schedule comprised of 25 standalone 18-hole strokeplay tournaments played all over South Africa, as well as a list of hosts that include Ernie Els, Charl Schwartzel and Louis Oosthuizen, it is safe to say the 2012 Glacier Junior Series is not just another junior amateur challenge.

The Glacier group has been involved in junior golf since 2010 and strives to give every South African junior golfer the opportunity to compete in this prestigious tournament. Sanlam, the brains behind Glacier, has teamed up with Dale Hayes Golf Events and the South African Junior Foundation to host the series tournaments.

The support for these tournaments have been immense, and it is wonderful to see renowned local players and businesses involved in something that can mean so much for the future of South African golf. On 13 May 2012, we will also lend the Compleat Golfer name to the series by hosting one of the tournaments at Steenberg Golf Club, where we hope to see and meet a rich variety of junior talent.

Golfers compete in three divisions according to their SAGA-affiliated handicap, with the A-division having a handicap between 1-6, the B-division between 7-18 and the C-division between 19-36. While winners of the lower two divisions have the opportunity to win individual prizes in each tournament, only winners of the A-division will have a chance to compete for the grand prize – an all-expenses-paid trip to play in the Orange Bowl Junior Invitational in Florida.
