Blades takes on The Parlotones
In the green corner we have a blazer-wearing, whisky-drinking Hugh Bladen impersonator, while in the black corner it’s the skinny-jeaned, tattooed rock stars. Just what the heck is going on here?
Sharp-eyed readers will have noticed the name Simon Hill pop up in the contributors' column of Compleat Golfer over the past few months as the mad-keen golf nut has been helping out as a freelance writer whenever he gets the chance. He has also been making a name for himself as a sports presenter on Kfm’s The Breakfast Show, but it is his alter ego ‘Blades’, a cracking impersonation of the famous rugby broadcaster Hugh Bladen – who has really started to capture the imagination of both radio listeners and Internet browsers.
We caught up with Blades on the fairways of Bellville golf course as he took up the challenge against some rather unusual opponents in the form of South Africa’s premier rock group, The Parlotones.
