Parker Mclaughlin almost got himself into hot water by tweeting during a round of tournament golf.
Parker McLachlin may not exactly be a household name, but at least he can mark his name down for a first - by being the first golfer to 'Tweet' live during a tournament on the US Tour.
Parker updated his twitter status during a long wait on the 5th tee during the Frys.com Open last week.
Hardly inspiring stuff for the first ever tweet, McLachlin wrote, "Just made birdie on 4. Waiting on 5th tee. First tweet during a tourney round. Don't want to get too used to this!"
The result - a call on the very same cellphone from US Tour executive vice president Rick George, who informed an unwitting McLachlin that he was breaking Tour policy.
A slap on the wrist for the player, who claimed he didn't know that using an electronic device during a competitive round was frowned upon.
"The guys that I was playing with [Brad Faxon and Glen Day] were checking football scores and someone yelled out, 'You should tweet about what you're doing right now.' I was like, that's a good idea. I didn't really think too much about it."
Whatever. The Mole reckons if you're gonna stick your neck out, at least make it interesting...
