Something the Mole picked up on over the weekend was the complete lack of presence of American assistant captain, Michael Jordan. Sure, he’s not famed for his golfing prowess, but rather for his efforts on the basketball court; but why did the PGA Tour hide him?
Things didn’t start out too well for Jordan after he was caught smoking a cigar out on the course; it is illegal in San Francisco to smoke on city-owned grounds. A barrage of negative press followed and we never heard of Jordan ever again.
It is a bit sad really, why shouldn’t a sportsman from a different sport be allowed to share ideas and give guys from another sport advice without being nailed by the press? Jordan could have added positively to the Presidents Cup if he was handled in the correct way. Sure, the PGA Tour could have done a better job of explaining why he was there and not allowing him to “steal” the limelight. But, golf is a sport for everybody, so why did they give the guy such a hard time?
