In yet another rain delayed event, Sergio Garcia and unheralded Chris Riley are tied for the lead at the Wyndham Championship. Is it just the Mole, or has this been the trend at most tournaments this year?
Play has been stopped during every round so far and the third round has just been completed! Riley and Garcia have managed to reach a tidy 15-under par.
Sergio has had a shocking year. He’s missed three cuts: the PGA Championship, the St. Jude Classic and the Quail Hollow Championship. His best finish was tied for 10th at the US Open and his average finishing position is a lowly 33rd.
He’s ranked 115th on the PGA Tour Money List. Not something you’d expect from a golfer who has consistently been inside the OWGR top 10 and has 7 PGA Tour and 11 European Tour wins to his name.
The mole wouldn’t mind seeing Sergio take this one though; the “poor” guy needs it… This year he’s made just $600 000 compared to the $4.9 million last year and the $3.7million in 2007… eek!
Weren’t we discussing the odds on him becoming the OWGR number 1 at the beginning of the year when Tiger was injured??
Is it all down to poor putting and a broken heart…? Probably a good thing he doesn’t qualify to play in The Presidents Cup. Relations with Greg Norman may be a little frosty…
