(Surprise) Tiger the man to beat

Bookies have Tiger at 2/1 favourite to win this week’s PGA Championship. Given his recent run of form, you’d be crazy to back anyone else – or would you? The Mole has other ideas…

Yes, yes, Tiger Woods will be no doubt be in the mix come Sunday afternoon, but will he be the outright winner?

It’s been over a year and 5 Majors since the striped one last held a Major trophy aloft and the Mole has a sneaky suspicion that this one might also slip through his fingers.

So, if you’re not going to take a punt on Tiger, who else is good value?

BetXchange has Ernie at a remarkably good 70/1. Sure, he has hardly given any reason to scare the bookies, but this is a Major and the cream generally does rise to the top. Go each way for Ernie – a top 6 finish will still give you a payout of 17.5/1.

As long as we’re going local, Retief is well worth a shot at 40/1 – he has been threatening to win for the past few weeks and is due one at some stage…

The Mole’s pick: How about Jim Furyk at 70/1 – he has the game, the credentials and the right odds to make you a fortune..

The Mole’s longshot pick: Luke Donald at 110/1. Probably worth going each way, a top 6 finish is well in his range.
