After a fairly lack-lustre Presidents Cup, all South African golf fans have left to look forward to this year is ‘Africa’s Major’– the Nedbank Golf Challenge. Given certain player commitments, the Mole thinks that now may be the time to rethink the NGC field to bring some spice back to the event. Could we see the likes of John Daly and Michelle Wie gracing the fairways?

The 2009 Presidents Cup again showcased the argument for picking up and walking back to the clubhouse once the cup was decided. The Americans got to 18-11 with five matches still out on the course.

It’s amazing to think that Tiger once had a reputation of not being a team man – and was seen as a weak link in Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup teams. Well, no more. Four points in partnership with Steve Stricker in the foursomes and fourballs and then a whipping of PGA champion YE Yang (who saw that coming…?!) saw Woods pick up a perfect five points for the week – easily his best ever showing in both Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup matches.

Readers might remember that the Mole was not very complimentary about International captain Greg Norman’s choice of Adam Scott as a wild-card pick. Hmmm, without wanting to do a “told-you-so”, the struggling Aussie continued to do just that – he looked out-of-sorts the whole week.
