The very experienced KJ Choi was beaten on the last hole of the Malayasian Open today by Noh Seung-yul, an 18-year-old South Korean, who made a birdie on the last hole to win by one! Choi had also birdied the 18th earlier in the day, and was the club house leader. Unfortunately for him, it was not enough to stop Seung-yul from taking his second Asian Tour title.
Tonight is the final round of the WGC Accenture Match Play and it’s an all-English final. The Mole’s a little disappointed that none of the South African’s made it, especially after looking so promising during the first few days.
Are you bored of Tiger and the Ping wedge debate and longing for a good storyline to follow in 2010? Well, look no further than a man who was once at the top of the world, then almost entirely forgotten – and now seems to be making a habit of ‘coming out of nowhere’. At Pebble Beach yesterday, David Duval had another brilliant day at the office...
Robert Karlsson played flawless golf at the Doha Golf Club to win the 2010 Qatar Masters by three stokes. The 40-year-old Swede, who hasn’t played much golf in the last year due a bizarre eye injury, was looking in really impressive form and must be itching to get back inside the OWGR top 10.
If you missed out on the coverage of the final round of the Abu Dhabi Championship today, you missed out! Martin Kaymer, Ian Poulter and Rory McIlroy were firing on all cylinders and produced one of the more thrilling battles on a Sunday afternoon that the Mole has seen in a while. It took a birdie on the last for Kaymer to finally separate himself from Poulter and McIlroy who had fallen just short of the leading score.
Although they might not be leading the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship, the Mole is pretty sure that either Sergio Garcia or Martin Kaymer will walk away with the title. Garcia is currently one stroke behind Rick Kulacz (sorry, who? The Aussie who came from nowhere to finish in the top five at the Africa Open) in a tie for second, while Martin Kaymer is two behind in a tie for fifth.
Charl Schwartzel has won the Jo’burg Open, claiming his second successive victory for 2010 on the European Tour. And if that wasn’t enough to make you proud to be South African, Keith Horne finish in a tie for second alongside Darren Clarke and James Kamte finished tied for fourth!
Charl Schwartzel put together a stellar final day’s work at the Africa Open, shooting a 6-under 67 on his way to taking the title by just one stroke. His round was made up of seven birdies and an unfortunate bogey on the last after blocking his driver right.
It seems Danny Lee’s dream of success at the Africa Open was nothing more than a dream. The poor kid failed to play anywhere near the level required (even to make the cut...) and had the Mole scratching his furry little head. How does a kid who won a European Tour event finish second-last at the Africa Open?
This week on the PGA Tour players are competing at the SBS Championship hosted on the Plantation Course at Kapalua in Hawaii. The course is set on pretty hilly terrain, making for some massive elevation changes. Because of this, tournament officials allowed players to use carts during the practice rounds as well as the pro-am. However, there were some that declined...
