COURSE RANKINGS 2008

Compleat Golfer’s course ranking philosophy is grounded in the notion that the fractional differences between many courses make a strict ‘numerical’ rating outside the top 10 somewhat senseless. We prefer therefore to rather identify the main ‘clusters’, hence our Platinum and Gold ranked groups. This year, there are 16 courses that fall into Platinum and 24 in Gold leading to an effective Top 50 course listing for South Africa. (Numerical positions are indicated in brackets for those who feel it important to know!) In addition, we believe that once a course is open for play and charging full greenfees, it is eligible to be rated.
