Retief Goosen finds himself at the top of the leaderboard at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am after two rounds.
Armed with a new pair of prescription glasses (...old age?) and a belly putter (oh, no!), he fired an eight-under 64 to go with his first-round 68! This gives him a two-shot lead.
Having slipped from one of golf’s greats to number 42 on the OWGR, Goosen must be eager to get a win. Bear in mind he hasn’t won on the PGA Tour in four years, since The International (which no longer exists).
“I’d like to turn my game around and play better,” Goosen said. “The last couple of years, I've just putted bad.”
He added, “When I had a week off back in London, I was just fooling around in the garage with putters and tried a few long putters. And then, I thought I would sort of give it [belly putter] a try. It can't get any worse, so I might as well try it. If you can get some sort of confidence going again, just seeing yourself making some putts, it helps.''
Well spoken, sort of. The Mole really hopes he can win this one. He needs it...
