Well, not much has been said since the announcement that golf will form part of the Olympics in 2016, partly because 2016 is an age away. However, that hasn’t stopped Phil Mickelson from sharing his two cents worth…

“Everybody I have talked to is excited about golf becoming a part of the Olympics. It is the greatest thing that can happen to our sport. It will allow the growth of the game on a global basis and with the Olympic foundations we will have a lot of money put towards the growth of the game for educating and teaching juniors.

"I think the game of golf will finally get the recognition it deserves."

Could that get anymore clichéd? The Mole is wondering if had that written down, or if his manager had prepared it for him? It’s a real pity that at the end of it he didn’t add, “the winner will be golf”. Phil, the Mole doesn’t think anyone is that excited just yet but, at least you are…

It’s great that golf is a part of the Olympics but can we not hear about it till say 2014? At least by then the course will have finally been built and Tiger will have won his 19 Majors…
