New-look Woods?
   
Vanity Fair has been generating a lot of publicity for their February issue by releasing an image of the cover early. It’s features a rare portrait of Tiger Woods and it somewhat different to what the Mole has seen from Tiger in the past.

Justified?
   
If you think that Tiger Woods is not justified in charging $3 million in appearance fees, you are wrong. The Mole has learnt that that sum – paid to Woods for his appearance at the Australian Masters – has resulted in an estimated $31 million injection into the Victorian state economy in Australia!

Lee looks to take Africa Open
   
Danny Lee will be starting his 2010 campaign in South Africa at the Africa Open, which tees off at East London Golf Club from 7-10 January 2010. Lee is famed for winning last year’s Johnnie Walker Classic as an amateur; becoming the youngest winner ever on both the European Tour and the Australasian Tour, breaking the record set by an 18-year-old Dale Hayes in 1971.

AT&T also drop Woods...
   
AT&T announced that it has officially dropped Tiger Woods. AT&T cited Woods’ indefinite break from the game to focus on rebuilding his marriage as the reason for dropping the superstar, yeah right! They join the ranks of Accenture who also decided to back out of its endorsement deal when Tiger admitted his infidelity.

Garcia fighting hand injury
   
Just when Sergio Garcia thought his 2009 year couldn’t get any worse, it did. He has revealed that he has been struggling with a hand injury over the past few weeks that has prevented him from swinging a golf club.

Word is out that Paul McGinley and Darren Clarke have signed up for the 2010 Africa Open. The €1-million event will take place at East London Golf Club from 7-10 January next year.

Word is out that the SA Open will leave Pearl Valley Golf Estate after three years of successfully hosting the event. It has been confirmed that it will move to Durban Country Club after the three-hosting deal with Pearl Valley expired.

Denis Hutchinson, winner of the 1959 SA Open (as an amateur) was today honoured in an impromptu ceremony at the SA Open at Pearl Valley, commemorating the 50th anniversary of his victory.
