The Mole posted a few spy photos of TaylorMade’s new TP wedge a couple of weeks ago and now it’s official, they will be releasing the new TP wedge with exchangeable face technology (no surprises with the three-letter abbreviation, then: XFT...). The wedge looks pretty sleek in the Mole’s opinion but, he wonders if it will actually catch on.
The wedges, which have exchangeable faces, allow you to change the face when you eventually wear your grooves down. This means that you can keep the same trusty wedge but keep giving it a new set of teeth every now and then, instead of having to replace the whole thing. The pricing in the US is around $130 for the wedge and then $39 every time you buy a new face.
A cunning way to launch a wedge now and have conforming grooves from 1 Jan for Tour players, without having to change the club.
Nice idea, now all the Mole needs to do is test it out. Hope it will be here before Christmas!
