If you’ve been scouring the golf underground of late, the fact that Nike unveiled their ‘groundbreaking’ new putter idea and are about to flog it in golf shops around the world will be old news. Which must be making the guys at YES! Putter company smile because they did it first and, as we all know, imitation is the most sincere form of flattery…
The Mole managed to get his hands on these pictures of the latest Titleist irons, due for release pretty soon. The AP1s and AP2s will be updated, while there will be a new muscle back and cavity back set. All the clubs will carry the number “710” on the hozel, for the year 2010.
Mizuno has just released its new irons for 2009. They are the MP-68s (blades), the MP58s (the more forgiving muscle-cavity back), the MX-1000s and MX-300s (the game-improvement irons).
If you needed any proof that college football was the next best thing since sliced bread in the US, then look no further. Nike’s staff players will be wearing the colours of their respective colleges on Saturday at the Deutsche Bank Championship.
The Mole’s been digging and came across this very interesting new wedge concept from TaylorMade. It has XFT, another great TLA (three letter abbreviation) by the TaylorMade boys, which stands exchangeable face technology. XFT fits right in with the family, who can forget MWT (moveable weight technology) or FCT (flight control technology)... worse than an IT manual!
The Mole stumbled across these pictures today, and well, it made him feel rather depressed. The current Senior PGA Championship winner, Michael Allen, has an LCD screen in/on his golf bag, which displays adverts during his round... What is the world coming to?
The likes of Camilo Villegas, Ian Poulter, Geoff Ogilvy and JB Holmes are apparently all trying out Cobra’s new adjustable ZL driver ahead of this week’s Barclays Championship at Liberty National.
In what seems like a never-ending saga Titleist and Callaway are still battling over the use of alleged Callaway patents in the legendary ProV1. A recent ruling found the claim on one of the patents to be invalid while the others were “irreconcilable” and, as a result, the case is going back for a new trial...
The tradition at TaylorMade (recently) has been to release a special-edition logo for each of the Majors. Here is the 2009 PGA Championship edition, with an explanation. Check it out!
Something that the Mole enjoys seeing is when Adams releases a new set of irons. After working in a golf shop for a brief stint and seeing the wonders that Adams clubs can do for golfers, especially seniors, the excitement is justified. Just ask Tom Watson!
