Question:
Hi What does the SPF stand for? Is it the number of minutes you can be exposed to the sun for or it the density (if that is the correct terminology) of the suntan lotion?

Answer:
SPF stands for Sun Protection Factor. The higher the SPF number, the better protection against the sun's harmful UVB rays. The SPF number lets you know how much longer you can stay out in the sun without burning. For example, if it takes 15 minutes for a person to burn, an SPF 15 will allow them to stay out in the sun 15 times longer without burning. Parebens are used as a preservative in cosmetics, the controversy is that parabens are considered to have an oestrogen ( Female hormones)like effect on the body.Although the effects are minute ,their is a concern that it may increase the risk for cancer. This isue is very topical at the moment. There is no conclusive evidence though.
