As is the case every year, the guys at Augusta are making a few changes. Whether it is moving an entire tee, or the placement of a dustbin sorry, I mean refuse receptacle something has to change. It's an unspoken tradition.
So what's on the cards? Well, for the first time in who knows how long, they are actually making the course shorter. By 10 yards, to be exact.
Changes:
- The first tee is going to be moved forward to allow easier movement for the patrons between the first tee and putting green
- Seven yards extra on the front of the 7th tee
- 10-yards added to the front of the 15th tee
- Rebuilding of the greens at 1, 5 and 6 for agronomic reasons.
"As we've done nearly every year since the inception of the Masters, we evaluate the golf course and make refinements we think are necessary," Chairman Billy Payne said in a statement. "This year, only minor changes were implemented, and all were made in order to provide greater flexibility in the event of adverse weather conditions, which we have experienced the last couple of years."
