The year of the first timers

Yet again the PGA Tour has another first time winner as Bryce Molder won his first PGA Tour event after going winless for 131 events in the Frys.com Open.

His win came after a mammoth six-hole playoff with fellow American Briny Baird, who is still winless after 348 events.

Here’s what he had in his bag:

Titleist driver

The big stick

Kevin relies on a Titleist 909 D3 9.5° driver fitted with a Mitsubishi Rayon Blue Board 73 shaft. Molder’s driver was on song as he hit it three times on the 284-yard 17th hole to carry the water and leave himself with eagle opportunities.

Titleist fairway woods

One and only

Most professionals choose to play with two fairway woods which provide them with more variety with their long shots but he plays with only one fairway wood, a 13.5° Titleist 909F2 fitted with a Mitsubishi Rayon Blue Board 83 shaft.

Titleist hybrid

Using technology

We all know of the impact a hybrid club has made in improving the Sunday golfer’s game and the professionals are also making good use of them. Molder uses Titleist’s 910H 20° hybrid fitted with a Fujikura Speeder 904HB shaft.

Titleist irons

Cavity Backs does the trick

Staying away from the conventional Titleist sponsored players; Molder plays with their 712 CB irons (3-9) which he has fitted with True Temper Dynamic Gold Tour Issue shafts. These irons allow for more forgiveness on off-centre shots and also provide him with easier workability.

Titleist wedges

Wedging it close

Molder uses the Vokey designed Titleist 47°, 54°, 60° wedges, all fitted with the same shafts he uses in his irons, the True Temper Dynamic Gold Tour Issue shafts. You will notice that he plays with three wedges as it gives him the freedom to manipulate and have more control of the ball with his short shots.

Scotty Cameron putter

Scotty does it again

The hottest club in his bag was definitely his Scotty Cameron for Titleist Studio Select Newport putter. Molder sank a six foot birdie putt on the sixth playoff hole to capture his first win.

Titleist golf ball

The number one ball in all of golf

Molder used Titleist’s most successful ball, the Pro V1x, for his breakthrough victory. The preferred choice of amateurs and professionals throughout the world, this ball stands head and shoulders above any other as the most liked ball in all of golf.

It is not often you see a professional golfer play with cavity back clubs but when you playing with clubs which suits your swing, it does not matter if it’s a cavity or a blade, you will achieve the desired results.
