After looping a par putt in on the last, Singh raised his arms in what could best be described as relief, rather than celebration. It was his first victory of the year and 32nd of his career, making him the most successful “International” player ever. After finishing second twice this year and having not won an event in 34 starts, it’s no wonder the guy is so relieved.
Our tubby friend Mickelson choked – again – bogeying three of his closing four holes and, in so doing, throwing away his one-stroke lead. He finished T4 with the Goose, who shot a 67 to round off a particularly good week.
Oh, and in case you thought you were the only one who has issues from four feet out, you’re not! “I said to myself, ‘Just cozy it down there. If it goes in, fine. Don’t leave yourself a four-footer.’ And I left myself a four-footer,” Singh said. “I’ve been practising four- and five-footers all week, and at the end of the day it pays off.”
If you have problems with short putts, it may be worth reading that last line over and over again…
