Career-best Jimenez leads

Miguel Angel Jimenez entered the Omega European Masters looking to get some form before the Ryder Cup. So far he is succeeding.

Jimenez shot the lowest round of his 27-year European Tour career in the second round of the European Masters to grab the outright lead, from Edoardo Molinari by three shots, on 14 under.

Two eagles and six birdies gave the 46-year-old Spaniard a 10-under 61 at the Crans-sur-Sierre Alpine course

Molinari is also looking to build on some impressive recent performances in the run into the Ryder Cup.

It has been suggested that Molinari and Jimenez could be the weak links in the European team. If that is the case Europe have a very, very strong team.

Charl Schwartzel is leading the South African charge going into the championship rounds, six behind Jimenez, on 8 under.

Leaderboard

M Jimenez -14
