The PGA Show has come to it's conclusion for 2011 and the Mole has picked out some of his favourite parts of this year's show.
The PGA Show is one heck of thing to behold the first time you attend, or even the second or tenth time you go. I don't think you would be able to cover the entire event on your own if you could run as fast as the Flash.
It is daunting to say the least, you just have to realise from the get go that there are things you are going to miss. And never, ever try to fly solo, even if you go to the show on your own chat to everyone you get a chance to, to find out where the best products are. If you try to do it all on your own you will miss a lot more.
After the Mole managed to regain his bearings and reattach his jaw to his face he set off in search of some funky, not so mainstream products and these were some of his favourite bits of the show.
Sholf
Sholf is a combination of an old American favourite shuffleboard and golf. If you know how to play shuffleboard, you will get the hang of Sholf pretty quickly, but for those of you who don’t here is how it works.
There is a mat with sections marked out on it, and you putt a ball along the mat and the further it goes the more points you receive, unless it drops off the back of the mat in which case you get nothing.
The Mole liked this game because it is fun and incredibly simple, you can play it just about anywhere as long as there is a semi-flat piece of ground, and just about anyone can play, there are no complicated rules or guidelines to confuse people, you just putt.
You can read more about it here on their website:
RoboCup
Partly because of it’s name, partly because it is the perfect accessory for the golfer that hates fetching his balls from the hole on the putting practice green.
What it is, is a little box that you put into the hole that automatically flips the ball back to you after the ball has been sunk.
What if you miss the hole? I can hear some of the lazier people ask, not to worry it comes with a nifty backstop that you can put behind the hole to make sure any putt will end up with the ball being retrieved to you. Unless it is an absolutely dreadful putt or you leave it short, but then you deserve to go and fetch it.
Club Glove Train Reaction
Not funky or even fun, but definitely very useful for people who travel with their golf clubs all the time.
Club Glove has introduced the Train Reaction series of luggage that fully integrates three pieces of Club Glove luggage, so you can pull your clubs and clothes along as if it were all one bag.
Garmin’s Approach S1
It is a watch, with a GPS in it, so you can get your yardages from your watch. Now that’s pretty cool.
But as we all know GPS devices are banned from all competitive play, so be wary of the guy at club champs who is always checking the time. It probably isn’t because he is worried about slow play.
Cobra/Puma booth
Not an individual product, but the entire Cobra/Puma booth needs a mention somewhere for hosting an after-hours cocktail party, what more needs to be said.
