Ideal body posture for swing
A solid turn begins with a solid set-up.
- Dominated by a wide base of support, a straight spine angle and comfortably flexed knees.
- From this position all you should think about is turning your left shoulder and maintaining your spine angle.
- Your weight will shift on to your right leg, your hips will be turned at a 45-degree angle and your chest will be behind the ball, with your back facing the target.
- In this position, your body is all coiled up and in a very powerful position, ready to start your downswing.
Step by step swing motion
- Place a club parallel to the ground across your chest, with the grip on your left side and stand in the address position.
- Now push the grip with your left shoulder towards your right knee line, making sure your spine angle remains constant.
- You are going to get a great feeling for how to turn in your backswing to get into a very powerful position.
If the grip ends up pointing to your left toe, chances are you’ve created a reverse pivot, which can lead to a variety of bad shots.
