Enough publicity, Ping lets the wedge thing go...

Ultimately the wedge “scandal” became a very well managed publicity stunt for Ping. People had two great controversies to talk about while the golf was somewhat lacklustre; those being Tiger Woods and Ping’s wedges that defied the new groove rules.

Taking advantage of the rules in manner some described as cheating has never been part of Ping’s brand image. So, it makes sense that once all the hype had played out that Ping could conveniently come to a mutual agreement with the Tour.

The official ban starts on 29 March. All the Mole can say is thank goodness this is over!

Note: This is officially the last story the mole will ever write about Ping Eye2 wedges. They are from the 1980s for crying out loud.
